An Innovative Solution to an Age-Old Problem!
At the Animal Medical Center of Jupiter, we are always dedicated to finding new technology, processes and equipment which help our pets truly thrive. This dedication comes in part in the form of our laser therapy for dogs. Used for decades with human athletes, laser therapy was able to stimulate cells to grow, allowing these athletes to heal from injuries better and get back on the field faster. It’s only been recently, however, that veterinarians have discovered that the processes which worked miracles in humans, could do the same for our beloved pets as well. The veterinarians at our animal hospital are pleased to offer this drug-free option to accommodate pets that are non-compliant with other treatment regimens or unable to tolerate drugs. Laser therapy for dogs and cats can also be an effective alternative to surgery for the right patient and condition.
Beginning slowly, we first started using laser therapy for dogs and cats as a way to help pets get back on their paws after surgery. However, we now use it for a wide variety of conditions, which include:
- Back and Joint Pain
- Degenerative Joint and Disc Disease
- Sprains and Strains
- Hip Dysplasia
- Injuries to Bones, Ligaments, Tendons, and Muscle
- Chronic Pain
- Post-Operative Healing (ex. to Treat Incision Pain and Reduce Inflammation before the Patient wakes up)
- Dermatologic Disorders (ex. Hot Spots, Dermatitis, Lick Granulomas)
- Bite Wounds
- Acute and Chronic Otitis (Ear Infections)
- Inflammatory Bowel Disease
- Periodontal Disease
- Feline Acne
- And So Much More!
Laser Therapy is an FDA-cleared modality that reduces inflammation and that results in pain reduction. Laser Therapy is effective in treating acute pain, chronic conditions, and post-operative pain.
Laser therapy treatment is safe, painless and fast. Treatments to deeper tissues are administered in 5 to 10 minutes. Typically, even chronic patients exhibit improvement after 3 to 5 treatment sessions. Laser therapy utilizes the body’s own healing powers by stimulating cellular activity. Despite short treatment times, laser therapy treatments initiate a healing process that continues to actively reduce inflammation for up to 24 hours after treatment.
Companion therapy lasers are the most popular among veterinarians. Laser therapy is a clinically proven modality in both human and veterinary medicine.
Effective, unique, non-invasive, quick and completely painless, it works using a hand-held device which uses a low-level laser to target the damaged cells. Whether these are on the surface, or deep inside an organ, our lasers are specifically designed to reach the pain at its source. The light from the laser is completely pain-free and works to stimulate cell growth in a natural way. Allowing cells to regenerate and repair themselves, laser therapy for dogs and cats really allows us to speed up the healing process in a non-invasive way, improving mobility, reducing inflammation, healing wounds, eliminating pain, and so much more. As of now, there are no known side effects of the laser therapy treatments and they have been proven to be very well tolerated by pets!
